Refurbished iPhone Out of the Box

After getting dozens of emails inquiring about the contents of refurbished iPhones when compared to new, it seemed like a novel idea to uncover the mystery for the curious and perfectly paranoid. Your refurbished iPhone will arrive sealed in a plain white box with Apple logo neatly packed inside of a plain brown cardboard shipping box. The signature black box is definitely not included.

The iPhone is wrapped in a magical plastic sheath which is typical packaging new or used. The Apple online store makes it clear that you will need to upgrade to version 1.1.1. as well as activating your iPhone. Refurbished iPhones are certified for Apple quality and covered by the Limited 1 Year Warranty like new.

Here's what's in the box: Refurbished iPhone, Stereo headset, Dock, USB Connector Cable, USB Power Adapter, Documentation, Cleaning/polishing cloth.

The iPhone pictured above is a 4GB model offered with free shipping at $299. If you're holding out for an 8GB refurb iPhone, Apple told us that those might show up sometime after the holiday but to check their website daily (here). Happy hunting.

The Birth of Frankenphone - It's Alive!

Geek_technique_iphone_2

Mark Hoekstra at Geek Technique has perfectly timed his modification of an iPhone suffering from a cracked faceplate (that he quickly snatched up from the graveyard) just in time for Halloween. The result of Mark's painting, slicing, sanding and adding parts from an old Apple Extended Keyboard have birthed a pretty amazing monster of sorts. Dr. Geekenstein spent two full weekends in his laboratory meticulously constructing his Newton-like masterpiece. I call Mark's creation "The Frankenphone." It's Alive!

iPhone Costume Exposes Obvious Pitfall

Iphone_costume_7 It would only serve to reason that dressing up as an iPhone for Halloween will certainly make you one of the most popular costumes at any party. Here's one small piece of advice, unless you want to appear to be a complete tool, be very careful where you dangle your 'home' button. A longer costume means a better costume, at least for the rest of us to look at.

If your Halloween party is not at the Playboy Mansion, I would avoid any blatant attempt to draw attention downward towards mister Johnson. Advice that is especially useful if 'home' is your iPhones smallest feature. It's good for a laugh that will last about two minutes and then you will end up looking like an iHole.

Be safe and dress responsibly.

Apple Returns To Strict Limit of 2 iPhones

Cameron_moll_iphone_2 Apple has laid down the law according to several reports posted on Friday (link). Effective immediately customers will be limited to the purchase of (2) iPhones. In addition Apple will not accept cash as payment, only credit and debit cards will be honored.

"Cash is too cumbersome for us to manage and just as tedious as processing those people who pay by check," said Dave Hastas an Apple Store greeter "Paying by cash causes our long checkout lines to stall and encourages purchases from drug dealers."

Rumor: Fake Steve Jobs To Fake Own Death

Dan_lyons_el__jobso Daniel Lyons, creator of The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs aka Fake Steve Jobs is rumored to be making plans to fake his own death in order to gain some much needed time off from his hectic  schedule. Does that mean he would be faking the death of Steve Jobs? With the launch of his latest book 'Options: The Secret Life of Steve Jobs', a Parody, Lyons is engaged in a mini book tour that is drawing large audiences of 'frigtards' in California. Lyons has even scheduled an appearance with popular Author and ex Apple staffer Guy Kawasaki on November 6, in Mountain View, CA where they will appear together on stage for no defined reason other than to get into the mind of Fake Steve Jobs.

Sources report that Lyons (FSJ) is close to becoming more popular than The Beatles, warranting drastic measures to capture down time away from his prolific writing career. His rise in popularity was an unexpected twist after being exposed as The Fake Steve Jobs back in August by The New York Times. Many asked 'what's next?' for Lyons after being outed as (FSJ). What came next was even greater notoriety, solidifying his place in popular culture as a brilliant writer of satire. The idea of recreating The Beatles 'Paul Is Dead' stunt that became urban legend in 1966 has been tossed around the (FSJ) camp as a possible diversion employed to relieve the mounting pressure of celebrity on Lyons.

Leopard Premiere T-Shirt Falls Short of Expectations

Leopard_premiere_tshirt_2 SAN FRANCISCO, CA - The launch of Mac OS X Leopard on Friday night delivered all of the hoopla and excitement anyone could expect at Apple retail stores across the country. In many locations the lines seemed to stretch on endlessly with many faithful in New York's SoHo neighborhood braving the gusty winds and pouring rain. Anticipation hit a fever pitch just prior to 6:00 PM. In typical Apple fashion the line began moving right on time with world premiere Leopard T-shirts being handed out along with bottles of water for many of the line gazers.

"T-shirts were the main draw for the first person in line outside the SoHo store, a New York Mac enthusiast named Adam who said he arrived at 2:00 p.m. He merely wanted the free T-shirt Apple was giving out to people waiting in line to purchase the OS."  Source - Macworld
