Refurbished iPhones are certified for Apple quality and covered by the Limited 1 Year Warranty like new.

The best idea is to check the Apple online store daily, ideally in the am to see when the refurbished models appear. Apple said they would start to appear again after the Holiday. I would still check prior to that.
