SEATTLE, WA - Microsoft delivered shock and awe when they announced the release of a limited edition co-branded gold Zune 2 designed in partnership with Goods, a hot Seattle based apparel and accessories company. The Goods Zune was previewed at an insiders event on November 30th at 'The War Room' in Seattle. Ten limited edition 8GB and 80GB models will be sold, though there is some confusion being reported about the actual number of limited edition players. Price not mentioned.
Microsoft has somehow surmised that screen printing their product with art from hip, tattooed designers who create trendy clothing, hats and sneakers for the Seattle skate scene will somehow make the Zune cool too. Think again! I can still see that awkward, wanna be iPod, Zune through the culturally relevant Goods design on the back. A slightly obvious attempt at rigorously polishing a turd until it gains a high gloss finish. Why not make an amazing product and then play dolly dress up with it? Rather than doing it the other way around. Maybe the back can become the new front which would be a vast improvement. Verdict? Goods apparel Hot! Zune Not!
