iPod Dead And Buried After Subway Attack
NEW YORK, NY - Late Tuesday evening a small gang of thugs rendered an iPod useless after a brutal attack on a New York subway departing the SoHo area. According to witnesses, the all white iPod was yanked from the purse of an unsuspecting Dominican woman in her late twenties, slammed to the floor several times and then returned politely by the assailants. The possibility of a racially motivated attack is still being investigated by police since the iPod was predominantly white. This recent attack confirms the iCrime wave report by the Urban Institute which may be more accurate than first believed.
"It happened so fast I could hardly catch my breath," said Queens resident Vanessa Correa "It was horrible to watch my iPod assaulted for no good reason. I sobbed for hours, that iPod was like a brother to me. I don't understand these crimes against technology, it makes no sense."
According to Correa, her iPod was pronounced D.O.A. by an Apple store Genius Wednesday morning after making several attempts to regain any signs of life. Correa held an intimate funeral service attended by close friends followed by an emotional burial ceremony. "I know that Apple offers iPod recycling, but I'm just not ready to let go," Correa said, "Knowing my iPod is buried in the yard does help in a strange way." Vanessa Correa was somber when asked about replacing her iPod, indicating that it will take her some time before she is willing to move on. She's tentatively planning an Apple store visit this coming Saturday.

I had the unfortunate experience of being an eyewitness to this horrific incident on the 5 train. It was so fast and violent, and the poor woman just sobbed as she held her iPod barely breathing. For a moment I feared for my own iPod Touch until I realized the incident may have been racially motivated. It just sickens me to think that white iPods are the minority and must live in fear... it's not right!!
CAN'T WE GET ALONG!!!!

It's worth adding that if your iPod refuses to go into Disk Mode and you hear a noticeable clicking sound, it's likely a faulty hard drive. If the unit is a Fourth Gen, however, the problem might just be corrosion on the HDD cable and will need cleaned periodically. Good luck & I hope this helps.
