SAN FRANCISCO - Apple has plenty of reasons to flaunt their killer App Store inside the front window of hundreds of Apple stores across the country. Since August, growth for the App Store has more than doubled with users downloading over 100 million applications. That number quickly adds up to an estimated $70 million in revenue for Apple. Impressive stats for the start of a rookie season.
It won't be long before the App Store reaches Steve Jobs' prediction of becoming a billion-dollar marketplace. The recent data along with the brilliant Apple store window display should be sufficient to inspire developers to 'hang in' while line sitting for a chance to test their worth in the App Store.
All controversy aside, the App Store has been a definite game changer for Apple and a huge win for cult of iPhone faithful. With competitors like Google and Microsoft announcing their own plans to launch blatant App Store clones, it's clear that Apple has taken the lead once again with digital downloads. This time there's nothing like DRM to hold them back.

I wonder what is the real developers' share? I doubt that they actually get 30%...

ebernet, each app is not $1. At 100 million applications and a 30% cut for Apple, the $70M estimate appears to be estimating an average selling price of a little over $2.

Did you mean to say:
"...with users downloading over 100 million applications. That number quickly adds up to an estimated $70 million in revenue for Apple."?
Should it not be 30 million for Apple, while the 70 million would go to the actual app developers? The 70/30 split is not in favor of Apple, but developers...

Are they really showing an app (NetShare) in the display that's been banned?
