Beatles Limited Edition iPod Lands At Bloomingdale's
Bloomingdale's is promoting a Limited Edition, ultimate collector's Beatles box set featuring a black, numbered 120G iPod etched with the Beatles' logo on the front, an Abbey Road silhouette on the back and a unique number etched in. There will only be 2500 of these box sets available for a hefty $795 each US. I must say, I did not imagine this unexpected bit of Beatles love lunging out of the horizon from Bloomingdale's of all places. It's not exactly steeped in cool factor.
The set includes 13 original Beatles' CDs, along with two masters and the "Love CD", which means the soundtrack to the Cirque du Soleil Vegas show of the same name. A bonus that may make some true Beatle-files vomit slightly. Buyers will also gain an engraved guitar pick, all packaged inside a specially designed box from Psycho Bunny. The iPod was created via Etchstar, the same folks that brought us the Limited Edition X-Files and 90210 iPods. It appears that Apple is not in the mix on this holiday sales boosting scheme, which means that something far better and profoundly cooler might be surfacing sometime soon. That said, there are only 2500 of these to go around and no announcement of a successor. What to do?
