AMARILLO, TX - If you watched last night's presidential debate between John McCain and Barack Obama you've already heard about "Joe The Plumber", a reference McCain made a few dozen times to a northwestern Ohio resident known as Joe Wurzelbacher, a persona tossed around in the debate as the archetype du jour for an American blue collar worker.
That story about "Ohio Joe" is so ten minutes ago, because the other "Joe The Plumber" who lives in Amarillo, Texas and owns joetheplumber.com just had his clock jump started big time for his 15 minutes of instant fame.
Since the debate, Joe Francis known as "The Friendliest Plumber In Town" around Amarillo, has been inundated on his website with thousands of pageviews, over 300 requests for T-Shirts and over 2,000 phone calls since the debate last night. Several calls even produced an escalated offer of $800,000 for his "Joe The Plumber" domain name.
I spoke to Ronnie, a staffer at Joe The Plumber's place who mentioned that Francis has agreed to make an appearance on "Inside Edition" in New York. I would hold out on selling that domain name Joe, at least until all TV appearances have been completed. The price is bound to go up while your clock is still tickin'. I also confirmed that Joe Francis is a committed cult of iPhone follower that uses iPhone 3G.
Official "Joe The Plumber" T-shirts are selling for a brisk $20 each. The price of instant micro-celebrity may be going up by the minute so you had better order your shirt fast. Here's the number 806.376.8200, ask for Ronnie he's a pretty friendly guy too.
I found one adult "Butt Crack Plumber"costume for $69.99, just throw your official T-shirt over the top and it's go time for Halloween. I also found a "Super-Sexy Plumber" costume for the ladies, but sorry guys the model's not included. Go Joe!
