SEATTLE, WA - Approximately 16 days after filling out Apple's online return form for my defective iPhone 3G ultracompact power adapter, the replacement arrived. The box was massive overkill, looking more like it contained another iPhone.
There is very little visible difference between the replacement adapter and the original which may be why Apple placed a lime green dot on the newly improved version. It's important that you follow Apple's specific return instructions. Otherwise Apple will charge your credit card $29.00 if you don't return the defective adapter as stated or if it's not covered under warranty. Most 3G owners should not have any warranty issues.
I found that peeling back the top copy of the return postage label was a bit tricky. The sealed box must be dropped off at the nearest DHL location or you can call to arrange pick-up. My recommended due date shows December 31, 2008. All of the instructions are enclosed. You will soon be officially shock free. Live long and prosper.
