The iPhone Savior news team has been tracking the progress of uSirius, the highly anticipated StarPlayr app that streams Sirius and XM Satellite Radio directly to iPhone and iPod touch. The latest screen shots courtesy of the wildly popular Chris Pirillo, were pulled from a private uSirius beta released to 200 people. The app looks impressive as it moves into the final stages before it goes public to the cult of iPhone faithful. The rumored price of this app is $12.99 but that's yet to be confirmed.
Be aware that the StarPlayr uSirius app requires a Sirius or XM subscription, then it's simple to sign into your account and immediately start streaming content like Howard Stern through iPhone's 3G network. The channels stream in 32k or 64k, though the higher quality 64k stream does require a Wi-Fi connection which may be a buzz kill for some. If Wi-Fi tweaks you out, I suggest building a bridge and getting over it.
In the screenshots (above) you'll notice a scrollable list of available Sirius or XM channels by name or genre. Each song plays along with album art (if available) and song lyrics. The app delivers access to purchase any song from either iTunes or Amazon with one click, making uSirius epic for buying new music on the fly. I'm anxious to tool around this bad boy while sitting in a mirrored room so I can watch myself loving it.
