If TechCrunch turns out to be spot-on about Apple launching a larger iPod touch device in the Fall of 2009, we all may be in for a proper hunk of wow factor. Sean Mulvihill created a slick mock-up Mac Tablet concept with a 7" inch
multi-touch screen that instantly produces iDrool at first sight. I like that Sean left the screen blank which only serves to fuel the imagination.
"Prototypes have been seen and handled by one of our sources, and Apple is talking to OEMs in Asia now about mass production. I’m not saying Apple is definitely launching a large form iPod Touch. But sources I trust are saying they are currently planning to, and one source has actually held the device." Michael Arrington reported for TechCrunch.
Apple is expected to feature more evolutionary products at Macworld this year rather than revolutionary ones. The latest product rumors pinpoint a next-gen Mac Mini boasting dual display support and the GeForce 9400M chipset. A super-charged Mac Mini will fulfill a lot of fantasies if Apple does the next-generation correctly. A refreshed iMac and 17" MacBook Pro have also been tossed around as sure things at Macworld this year. Then there's the absurd iPhone nano rumor which morphs the legendary Jesus phone into a retarded Hobbit version of its former self.
Every committed Machead knows that true exhilaration comes from the launch of a brand new Apple product, filled with fresh ideas to make modern iLife easier to manage. It may take greater patience in 2009 waiting for Apple to unveil it's greatest treasures, but patience always seems to pay off. Apple has the cash surplus to take greater risks with products created to scale new markets. They have promised as much and I believe Apple will deliver on those promises in 2009.
I've seen the future... it's a bigger multi-touch device. And that's just the appetizer!

i love the iphone sized one as an ipod touch our a handheld mac and the larger one could be a touchscreen macbook... mac board :)lol

Any half-competent computer company could launch a tablet in a few months and steal all of Apple's thunder. "
I completely disagree. No one can steal apples thunder, why? because when they finally launch whatever product they are developing, it will be extremely tight and well thought out. and we will all drool over it.
evidence of this by the iPod and iPhone.
in both cases there were mp3 players and smart phones in existence before.
but apple took the time and did it right.
the problem with other computer companies is they rush to put crap on the market.
apple waits, tests, designs, and hits home runs!

Too bad there's so much advance notice of this future tablet. Any half-competent computer company could launch a tablet in a few months and steal all of Apple's thunder. Of course, tablets have never sold well in the past so there's no reason to think they would sell better now except that they could be lower in price. Apple's version would make a big difference since it will have Multi-Touch and might be able to download and run applications from the App Store.
