SINGAPORE - Nine-year old Singapore whiz-kiz Lim Ding Wen, has made his mark as the first fourth grader on planet Earth to develop his own iPhone application. Lim, who is fluent in six programming languages, began his foray into computers at the age of 2. He has since completed over 20 programming projects.
Lim's iPhone application "Doodle Kids", has been downloaded over 4,000 times in the past two weeks. His free app is a simple drawing tool that requires only one finger to enjoy. When your done creating your poor excuse for art, just shake the iPhone like an etch-a-sketch to erase the screen. I played with the app for ten minutes... Daddy likes!
"I wrote the program for my younger sisters, who like to draw," Lim told Reuters. His sisters are aged 3 and 5.
It's painfully obvious that Lim Ding Wen gets more accomplished by noon than I do in an entire week. That's bound to leave an emotional scare. Lim's dad who also develops iPhone applications, is a chief technology officer working at a local Singapore technology firm. I'm guessing that 4,000 downloads of "Doodle Kids" will easily quadruple after Lim's story is rocketed across the interwebs.
The ambitious nine-year old wonder-nerd is currently developing a new iPhone app -- it's a science fiction game called "Invader Wars." I expect his epic farting app will come shortly after. Expect that one to blow up huge!
