The ingenious folks at Thunk, LLC have created a fantastical iPhone frame they call Appstand. I had a chance to spend some hands-on time with their prototype model and liked what I saw. The functional (6.5 x 4.5) stand allows your iPhone to be easily mounted in back with full access to your screen and home button on the front. A positionable leg allows Appstand to be used in portrait or landscape mode to playback a photo slide show, show off a video aquarium or even a geek-tastic digital clock while charging your device.
There's a set of clips for optional cord storage in back and three interchangeable Appmats designed to add color when you get bored of the all black finish. Although the optional mats cost extra. The same slot designed to insert mats can also be used for inserting a (4x6) photo when your iPhone is absent. I found getting my phone in and out of the mount was effortless and the audio could be heard really well too.
The idea of mounting my iPhone as a digital art piece caused excessive tingling in my geeky parts. Appstand restores that feeling of childlike wonder and would make a unique gift for the iPhone fanatic who has everything.
Appstand is being sold as a pre-order for $20 with orders expected to ship starting December 1st. The Thunk-heads have also developed a great companion app called Ambient Channel ($.99) loaded with nine video loops including a fireplace, water fall and fish tank. I bought it and was not disappointed.
Now I can only dream out loud imagining how sweet a 10" Apple Tablet would look mounted and framed in the same way. Yep... I just went there.

Surprised this wasn't out along time ago, I made my own in December of 2007 out of wood.
