Clap Camera Deluxe ($.99) is a true iPhone novelty app that let's you pose and clap to capture photos. Delivering photography geeks instant clap-tastic joy with every shot. The longer I played around with this fantastical clapper app the harder it was for me to imagine being willing to look like a total ass clown just to take a snapshot. Which could make it ideal for iPhone China users.
The app uses a graphical sound-meter that responds to loud noises, even snapping your
fingers works in close enough proximity to your iPhone. Which can result in quickly
racking up half a dozen random shots of blurred nothings if you're not
careful. Directions note that this app should be limited to indoor use.
After each snapshot, Clap Camera takes several seconds to deliver
your clapped masterpiece to iPhone's camera roll. I found having to
quit out of the app to preview my shots a tad annoying, turning the
simple process of pose and shoot for self portraits into a finger
tapping marathon.
I find it difficult believing that Clap Camera Deluxe will catch on like the iconic Clapper invention did. It's really little more than a cute iPhone
parlor trick that can get tiresome fast. But I'll give developers extra
credit for launching such a wildly creative idea. Although I'm still
trying to figure out what makes this one "deluxe". Clap on!
