Gavio has released a clever palm-size portable speaker they call "The Wrenz". This bird-inspired speaker has all of the connection ports neatly hidden away behind the tail cover underneath. A USB charging cable is provided along with a rechargeable Li-ion Battery rated to play up to nine hours.
Placing this aluminum encased speaker inside of a birdcage for playback may be one of the more whimsical ideas I've seen Gavio present — except playback requires a direct iPhone connection which makes close proximity playback a must.
The Wrenz relies heavily on a slick design aesthetic and novel, biodegradable packaging as a hook for potential buyers — but the buzz killer here is the $79 price tag which is a tad hefty for a small mono speaker.
Although Bluetooth connectivity would elevate this ultra-modern bird to a must-have iPhone gift item, the price would still be a hard sell for most once you tack on another $10 for shipping.
