The folks at Case-Mate think we should all stock multiple iPhone cases in our closets like fashion accessories — choosing a different style on the fly to fit any occasion. Actually, that's exactly what I've been doing myself for the past year — so they're idea just might be spot on.
The company has tapped some high-profile celebs to start pimping their grand vision of iPhone fashion in a series of new commercials including Fergie, Common and Selena Gomez. The company's entire website has even been re-tooled to place the celebs front and center.
“We weren't just looking for any celebrity, we were looking for those celebrities,” said Vincent Young, Case-Mate's VP of worldwide marketing. “They have a wonderful eye for fashion themselves and they inspire their fans to always express they're own individuality through fashion.”
The “Right Case. Right Occasion” campaign is centered around styling and outfitting smartphones in the same way they're customers are outfitting themselves for different occasions, according to Young.
So does that mean dressing up your iPhone for a fancy dinner or outfitting it properly for a workout at the gym is the next big thing? Common seems to think so.
“Everything that is with me when I'm going out is part of my style,” said Common. “Anything that's surrounding my style I want it to be fresh — I want it to look good and express that mode I'm in — the way I feel.”
I've been a fan of Case-Mate's products since very early on — having several already in my own eclectic collection of iPhone-wear. I think the idea of elevating iPhone fashion to the next level is simply ingenious, especially if you're the one leading the parade.
In fact— it's only a matter of time before iPhone accessory designers launch their own smartphone fashion week. Yep. It could happen.
