Cranking out Christmas cards is not exactly one of my favorite things to do. Buying a dozen or more cards to manually write in, lick and stamp instantly becomes a holiday buzz killer for me that ultimately turns into a massive chore. Bah humbug!
Mobile e-cards were designed for the last-minute, lazy cheapskate who would rather send a digital holiday wish or end up sending nothing at all.
After test driving several custom card generating apps in the App Store, I finally settled on Christmas Lifecards ($.99) as my favorite paid app. It's packed full of editing options with each click, including over 50 high quality templates to choose from with iPad support as well. The ability to add, size and rotate photos is simple and intuitive, with plenty of custom text options available.
Many of the templates in this app allow for adding multiple photos in one card without looking completely cheesy. I was really impressed with the finished quality of my cards using the high resolution setting. This app also offers several options for saving and delivering your finished e-cards.
The best news is that for $.99 cents you can deliver a custom e-card message to everyone you know without ever having to change the template. Now that's lazy.
If you're serious about sending e-cards for the holiday, Christmas Lifecards is certainly worth a look for a buck. We looked at two free apps, Holiday Cards and Christmas Cards, but noth did not have the depth of options and the artwork was definitely not as polished. You get what you pay for.
Now if e-cards aren't your thing... you can always go Elf Yourself!
