Watch New Siri Ads "Rock God" and "Road Trip"

 

There's no doubt that miss Siri rocks hard, but in Apple's new ad entitled "Rock God", the company takes steady aim at emerging young rockers and even includes a garage band scene that offers a gentle nod to their software of the same name.

"Siri knows all kinds of things — even your nickname". Very clever.

In the second new Siri-centric commercial, it's all about getting directions and locating petrol in "Road Trip". Siri can easily "help you get from A to B like never before". Especially when you're driving from New York to Santa Cruz with some chick you just met at a Super Bowl party. Score!

Both TV spots take Siri off into useful new directions, but there's something about quickly finding a Bm 9th chord that should resonate with parents who might have been holding off on upgrading Jonny to an iPhone 4S. Isn't Siri wonderful?

Although Samsung's Galaxy Note Super Bowl commercial was designed to mock Apple hipsters waiting in line for the newest iPhone, it was the company's emphasis on their revolutionary "stylus" that caused a huge Twitter backlash on Monday. 

You know the chatter on Twitter has hit critical mass when the attention begins to focus on losing the pen rather than the stuff that truly matters like the large 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED touchsceen with 1280×800 resolution. My favorite Tweet from the lot is a hysterical one from Paul Madsen.

"I don't even own a Samsung Galaxy Note yet and I've already misplaced the pen" said Paul Madsen.

Samsung has become the butt end of its own joke amongst Twitter followers who've pointed out that showcasing technology of the 90's is not exactly "the next big thing". They just got "Samsunged" in the worst way — because the pummeling was self-inflicted. 

Even though the Galaxy Note is not dependant upon a stylus, the extra PalmPilot-like appendage showcased in the new commercial is definitely not pointing to technology of the future. 

"It's got a pen? This is awesome," a character in the ad says at one point. 

Nope. Not awesome at all. Is it just me — or does the room have a desperate smell to it?

Ars Technica writer Jon Brodkin, summed up my own feelings for Samsung's new phone-tablet hybrid quite nicely in his sarcastic Tweet.

"Pre-ordering my Galaxy Note today. Gonna throw the Note out. I just want the pen." said Jon Brodkin

Steve Jobs Inspires Best Buy 2012 Super Bowl Ad

 

When Steve Jobs passed away on October 5th, Best Buy’s U.S. marketing chief, Drew Panayiotou decided to turn the spotlight on Silicon Valley phone innovators who he considers to be the stars of today.

Instead of featuring metal head Ozzy Osbourne and teen idol Justin Bieber, you'll see Instagram creator Kevin Systrom (at top) and Philippe Kahn, who developed one of the first camera phones. Those are just a few featured in Best Buy's 2012 "Phone Innovators" Super Bowl commercial. (after the jump)

Watch Siri Help Santa Deliver Christmas On Time

 

In Apple's new iPhone 4S holiday commercial entitled "Santa", you'll find the jolly fat man himself relying on last minute help from iPhone assistant Siri to get his Christmas gifts delivered on time.

Just like Apple has done with their store windows again this year, the magic of Christmas is placed in the hands of the most iconic spokesman the season has to offer. No matter if you've been naughty or nice Siri is there to assist you every one of your 3.7 billion appointments. I asked Santa for an iPhone 5 and I'm ho,ho, hopeful he might just deliver.

The bonus here is that now we all know how to get to Charlie Grant's house in Twin Falls, Idaho. One more clue in this new ad is that Santa always makes Tacoma, Washington his first stop of the night. Good to know.

Apple's New iPad 2 Commercial Tunes Into Those Things We Love

Apple began airing a new iPad 2 commercial that turns a tender spotlight onto the things we love. It's about childlike wonder and the immeasurable joy that comes from building a blanket fort in your room or even playing in The Partridge Family band.

These are real people and real actors playing the role of real people in totally real situations. It really doesn't get any more real than this. Seeing dinosaur toys and a little homemade tee pee in a perfectly low lit bedroom instantly filled my eyes with sappy man-tears as I wept openly. Now I'm a complete mess.

Thanks for helping me feel the love Apple. I guess that's why you called this iPad commercial "Love". Seriously... you guys are so good at this stuff.

Verizon Ad: If Your Boat Sinks Save Your iPhones

America's most reliable network has released a new iPhone 4S commercial pimping their cellular coverage out at sea after a boat is capsized. Two of the more subtle messages that jumped out at me in this ad is the fact that the crew's lives were saved along with their iPhones. An idea that I definitely agree with. Save the Woman and iPhones first fellas!

Another subtle stinger was finding The DEX guy, actor Brian Stepanek, floating among the capsized crew. I'm pretty sure a DEX phone book is useless in this situation, a point the ad makes sure we are all reminded of.

I'm also certain that not too many AT&T subscribers made the jump to Verizon as expected when the iPhone 4S launched, which is why the company is spending even more money touting their cellular coverage. Who's with me on that one?

Watch Apple's Three New iPhone 4S Ads

Apple launched three new iPhone 4S TV ads on Sunday. Each advert, "iCloud", "Camera" and "Siri, Snow Today", focuses on a different feature set of the newest iPhone including a fresh pimping of the talkative Miss Siri.

The Siri spot also shows an iPhone 4S user accessing Apple's personal assistant through the in-line Earbud controller. It's a unique feature of Apple's headset that many users are still mostly unaware of.

Watch Jon Stewart Deconstruct Steve Jobs On The Daily Show

In grand Daily Show style, John Stewart unearths a few clever drive-by conclusions about Steve Jobs in his visit with biographer Walter Isaacson on Tuesday night. 

"A really interesting thing in the book is how often Steve Jobs crys," said John Stewart. "He is a weeper! Because in the book you get the sense at times from some of the people that the crying was also a manipulation."

Isaacson talked about how Steve Jobs connected emotion to technology and quickly defended the moments where Apple's co-founder would begin crying during his interview sessions, calling them "moments of artistic purity" rather than manipulative.

The big payoff comes when Isaacson casually compares the accomplishments of Bill Gates with that of Steve Jobs. I won't spoil the classic ending to this compelling 7:00 minutes of quality television.

Steve Jobs Narrates First Think Different Ad "Here's To The Crazy Ones" 1997

In 1997, Steve Jobs narrated the first Think Different TV commercial Here's to the Crazy Ones. His version never aired. It was the voice of Richard Dreyfuss heard in the original spot that aired in Apple's national campaign. It was written by Rob Siltanen and Ken Segall. Apple played the unaired version today for the employees at the Steve Jobs memorial held at their Cupertino headquarters.

Here's to you Steven Paul Jobs... you were one of the 'crazy ones'. You helped us all think different.

New Apple Ad Debuts "What Is iPad?"

Apple has unboxed the second and most direct iPad commercial to date, What Is iPad? It's refreshing to see the company continuing to break from using the white backdrop. The voice over copy in this ad is punchy and commanding, making gadgets like the Kindle and Droid seem small and irrelevant.

"What Is iPad? iPad is thin. iPad is beautiful. iPad goes anywhere and lasts all day. There's no right way, or wrong way. It's crazy powerful. It's magical."

I own an iPad. I have tremendous man-love for my iPad because it is revolutionary. I still can't buy into magical. But I'll play along for now, since over one million devices have already been sold. Can I get an Amen?

Ellen Pisses Apple Off With Dumb iPhone Spoof

When wildly popular talk show host Ellen DeGeneres tossed in a faked iPhone ad on her syndicated program which has proved to be the epic morning highlight for a bazillion soccer Moms, it wasn't the kind of thing Apple found funny. Especially when the spoof made the iPhone look like a hopeless mess to use.

Apple reportedly contacted the TV show host and pulled off an American Idol style critique of Ellen's little laugh out loud iPhone moment. DeGeneres quickly apologized to Apple on the air in a somewhat cheeky fashion, gushing with undying love for all things Apple and beyond.

"I love my iPad, I love my iPod," she said to applause from the audience. "I love IHOP, if you have anything to do with that."

Jon Stewart Hammers Apple Over Gizmodo Home Invasion

Jon Stewart takes no prisoners by speaking directly to Steve Jobs about the home invasion that left Gizmodo Editor, Jason Chen's front door smashed in by a special police task force last week. Most all of Chen's Apple gear was confiscated in the raid.

"It wasn't supposed to be this way, Microsoft was supposed to be the evil one." Jon Stewart ranted in front of his studio audience.

AT&T also managed to take a few gargantuan hits to their mothership over iPhone coverage that continues to suck ass cheeks. The entire rant by Stewart is inspired brilliance.

"The cops had to bash in the guys door? Don't they know there's an app for that?"

Apple Debuts First iPad Commercial During Academy Awards

Apple unveiled the very first iPad commercial "Meet iPad" during the broadcast of the Academy Awards show on Sunday night. The raucous soundtrack used in the ad is a 2008 release by Danish group The Blue Van entitled "There Goes My Love". Apple targeted their first iPad ad for the right audience at the right time.

Apple's magical iPad will go on sale Saturday, April 3rd in the U.S. starting at $499 for Wi-Fi enabled models. Pre-ordering for the device will begin on March 12th for US customers who choose to pre-order both Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi plus 3G models directly from Apple’s online store or reserve a Wi-Fi model for pick at an Apple retail location on April 3rd. And the Oscar goes to... (definitely not this ad).

Steve Jobs unveils the epic iTrash and smaller shuffle concept, as Apple's CEO is spoofed hard on the Undercover Celebrity Boss skit that aired on Saturday Night Live (SNL).

El Jobso leads off the spoof parade of celebrity bosses in this video including Richard Branson, Mini Moguls Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and the always charming Martha Stewart. The Jobsian legend continues to evolve into the ridonkulous. Love it!

Here's a juicy SNL digital short featuring Ashton Kutcher, shamelessly pimping his new social network concept called Tooter. For some obviously grotesque reasons, this bit of brilliance did not end up airing on Saturday Night Live. But we have the tasty promo video here for your viewing pleasure.

Megan Fox Takes Super Bowl Bath for Motorola

Confirmed Mac chick Megan Fox, photographed on dozens of occasions sporting her beloved iPhone 3G, took a dive for the Motorola money to pimp the Devour in a brand new Super Bowl ad. It sickens me to see Fox, an iPhone goddess, soaking wet in a bath tub pimping some inferior mobile device.

Millions of people were forced to witness this farce, this grand mockery of two shams.

I don't care how hot Megan Fox is, we all know she's ten times hotter when she's holding her iPhone. She looks ridiculous holding that box-shaped excuse for innovation. Motoblur? Seriously? After watching this video for the twenty seventh time in a row, it's starting to give me the douche chills. I feel dirty.

I wonder what will happen when Motorola finally puts out this device? Probably nothing.
