Apple has laid down the law according to several reports posted on Friday (link). Effective immediately customers will be limited to the purchase of (2) iPhones. In addition Apple will not accept cash as payment, only credit and debit cards will be honored.
"Cash is too cumbersome for us to manage and just as tedious as processing those people who pay by check," said Dave Hastas an Apple Store greeter "Paying by cash causes our long checkout lines to stall and encourages purchases from drug dealers."
Additionally, Apple will be checking all transaction histories on individuals, to insure that they are not violating the (2) per customer limit, a crime only punishable under Apple law. With the holiday season quickly approaching, Apple is considering limiting customers to the purchase of (1) iPhone if necessary or refusing service altogether if they look like a hacker seeking to unlock the phone.
One Apple Genius suggested that customers be required to register their iPhone, pay in advance and sign up with AT&T while a background check takes place during a two week waiting period before they can pick up their phone. A process similar to the one used when purchasing a hand gun. That suggestion is currently under review. Most have forgotten that Apple launched with a strict (2) iPhone limit that was in effect on June 29th (link).
