SEATTLE, WA - In what appears to be a common finding among technology savvy adults, the onset of Artism has moved to the forefront in the modern workplace. Individuals who have never shown any signs of real creativity or talent have begun to explode with inspiration shortly after purchasing Apple's iPhone, displaying significant signs of Artism that have otherwise remained dormant.
You won't see these true life iPhone stories featured in Apple's new TV ads because they're too difficult to explain inside of thirty seconds and certainly far more interesting than any ad executive is willing to admit. Most symptoms of Artism will go undetected without some kind of public exhibition.
"I was totally bored waiting for my co-workers to arrive for our Monday staff meeting so I started drawing my iPhone on the white board, when people walked in they freaked out," said Elam Nikserof, a Software Development Manager in Seattle "They embraced my Artism and encouraged me, I drew a picture of my co-worker Phil licking an iPhone box because he wants mine so badly, everyone loved it."
Lexy Nettick who works as a Data Specialist for a large medical office in Seattle started randomly drawing sketches during lunch breaks from photos she took of friends on her iPhone, the results were astonishing. "I never heard of Artism until now and I've never drawn anything until now either. I'm honestly a little stressed out over this idea of having some ailment related to the iPhone, it's creeping me out!" Lexy's drawings were accidentally discovered by her supervisor after a work party when the drawing book fell out of Nettick's purse.
There is still much to be uncovered about Artism but doctors do know this much, the symptoms are often seen in adults that typically have a lack of imaginative and social play, difficulty making friends and the inability to maintain an interesting conversation, often discussing things of no real importance. Certainly expounding on the features and applications of the iPhone would qualify as the latter symptom.
Lexy plans to embrace her Artism in hopes she can compile a body of work worthy of securing a gallery show by Spring 2008. Elam is not sure that his work behind his Artism will fetch any real money, but says that he enjoys the new found attention he's getting at work and he's content with drawing white board doodles before every staff meeting.
If you know someone with an iPhone showing signs of Artism, pause for a moment before trying to offer them help, because the next picture you frame might be theirs.
