After getting dozens of emails inquiring about the contents of refurbished iPhones when compared to new, it seemed like a novel idea to uncover the mystery for the curious and perfectly paranoid. Your refurbished iPhone will arrive sealed in a plain white box with Apple logo neatly packed inside of a plain brown cardboard shipping box. The signature black box is definitely not included.
The iPhone is wrapped in a magical plastic sheath which is typical packaging new or used. The Apple online store makes it clear that you will need to upgrade to version 1.1.1. as well as activating your iPhone. Refurbished iPhones are certified for Apple quality and covered by the Limited 1 Year Warranty like new.
Here's what's in the box: Refurbished iPhone, Stereo headset, Dock, USB Connector Cable, USB Power Adapter, Documentation, Cleaning/polishing cloth.
The iPhone pictured above is a 4GB model offered with free shipping at $299. If you're holding out for an 8GB refurb iPhone, Apple told us that those might show up sometime after the holiday but to check their website daily (here). Happy hunting.
I am interested in buying one of your 4GB phones how can I get one?

James,
The best idea is to check the Apple online store daily, ideally in the am to see when the refurbished models appear. Apple said they would start to appear again after the Holiday. I would still check prior to that.
