Special Report by Ian Fawling
In case you haven't been paying close attention, Bono just announced a Special Edition Beatles "White iPhone" and U2 "(RED) iPhone" over at "The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs". It's true! The infamous Fake Steve Jobs has given birth to a series of ramblings from none other than the fake Paul Hewson (Bono) himself. Now he's stuck in a moment and he can't get out of it, launching seven Bono posts to be exact. How's that for an Irish nipple twister?
"Steve and Sir Paul McCartney are going to introduce the White iPhone. It comes pre-loaded with every Beatles album ever. Including Ringo's solo stuff, in case you're into that kind of thing. It's got 16 gigabytes and costs $600," said the fake Bono, being channeled by FSJ.
Bono goes onto self-indulgently introduce his own U2 iPhone (RED) version; "Edge and I hate to be left behind, so we've come up with an even bigger idea, Presenting the U2 Rock and Roll iPhone. 64 gigabytes of Product (RED) iPhone packed with the entirety of Rock and Roll." Source: FSJ
Bono started contributing to "The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs" on November 22nd calling for a Product (RED) iPhone in a post entitled "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Shopping For" The idea of (RED) Ads by Google is tossed around in "I Can't Believe The News Today" a clever farce filled with a bevy of inside jokes found in many of the fake Bono ramblings. Some of the posts are a trip to loon-ville with Bono.(here)
"I've been up all weekend with the Google kids launching our (RED) Ads by Google campaign, which marks up Google text ads in bright red for an extra 40% CPM that goes to the Global Fund." Bono from (FSJ).
Bono has indicated that his latest post announcing the special edition iPhones will be his last. For some strange reason I find that hard to believe. My guess is that Bono will make a triumphant return to blogging, showing up in the mysterious ways he appeared the first time. For now his posts are being blamed on some hacker (wink, wink).
I assure you that Daniel Lyons is not running out of steam for the persona of Steve Jobs, my guess is he's simply realized that sometimes you can't make it on your own. Might there be a guest blogger hiding in the wings? The jury remains deadlocked on that question. Look for "Vertigo" The Chronicles of Paul Hewson to hit book stores in Summer of 2008. Until then, enjoy the small doses of (FSJ's) imitation Bono, he's even better than the real thing.
Note: The Beatles iPhone idea is totally insane but sweet!
