Gear Live has posted a gallery of ten iPhone 1.1.3 update photos claiming an advanced sneak peek at the new iPhone features that include:
- Ability to send an SMS message to multiple people
- Google Maps can now display the Hybrid map view
- Google Maps application will pinpoint your location via cell tower triangulation
- Home screen pagination support
- Addiing web bookmarks to your home screen
- Ability to drag and drop application icons on your home screen
TUAW (The Unofficial Apple Weblog) has called the photos another pre Macworld Photoshop fake out, while MacDailyNews has gone as far as saying; "No release date is known, but we expect it on or before Apple CEO Steve Jobs' Macworld Expo keynote presentation on Tuesday, January 15, 2008." We're not quite sure how MDN jumped to that grand conclusion but believe whatever makes you sleep soundly next to your iPhone at night. The Gear Live site (link) is loading at an extremely slow pace so you may want to go directly to their photo gallery on Flickr (link).
Gear Live also claims that iPhones using AnySIM unlock can expect to be bricked by the 1.1.3 update. News that's sure to send a chill down the collective spines of the rebels at the iPhone base camp. The rule of thumb for all Apple rumors is; believe it, post it, chat it and then dismantle it to uncover the truth. Expect an iPhone 1.1.3 update for 2008 until you hear different.
UPDATE: Engadget is reporting that iPhones updated to 1.1.3 firmware cannot be downgraded after the update. Additionally, word is that previously unlocked phones can't be upgraded to 1.1.3 at all. (link)
Gear Live has now posted a walkthrough video showing iPhone 1.1.3. update features. (link)
