"AT&T informed us that anyone who bought an iPhone after May 27th will be able to swap out their handset with no additional charges for an iPhone 3G." According to a report by Gizmodo.
What about the rest of the iPhone faithful and early adopters? The report states that, "If you signed a 2-year contract with AT&T when the iPhone came out (which you pretty much had to), you'll have to sign another new 2-year contract to score a new iPhone 3G.
Here's the real zinger though, AT&T announced that their data plan for standard users will now cost $30 per month raising the stakes $10 per month over existing plans. Unlimited data service for businesses will cost $45 per month. This means that cult of iPhone members will be giving up more cash by the end of a two-year contract compared to the previous deal. That's great, but what about chumps like me that bought one before May 27th? Ah well, at least we had that 'cool factor' for nearly a year...well worth it in my book. I noticed this post on InformationWeek that showed how to upgrade to the iPhone 3G: http://www.monkeysee.com/play/10498-how-to-upgrade-to-the-iphone-3g For someone like me considering it, it was very helpful.

Any idea if iPhone 2.0 will have tethering capabilities? As in, using the 3G connection from the iPhone for another computer?
