Apple has made a much needed change to it's wildly popular App Store by limiting customer reviews to those who've either purchased or downloaded the application first. You can't bone it until you own it. This change has taken effect only recently. "I think this is a strong positive step, and should help make the app reviews much more useful and representative to customers and less depressing/frustrating for developers," said blogger Matt Gemmell, who was one of the first on planet Apple to report the change in App Store policy.
It's mind boggling to think that anyone would review an app or even trash an app without actually using it in the first place. Though some insanely immature ass clowns have been known to make a sport of being the "first one to post a review" just because they can. How dumb is that? Will future reviews be more reliable as a result of Apple's policy change? Let's hope so.
