Hey dude, let's make an iPhone app that farts in sixteen different flavors. Yeah dude, we'll call it 'Pull My Finger!' Yeah bro... that's epic!
Developer of the ingenious iPhone party app called 'Pull My Finger', received a disheartening email from Apple rejecting his wildly original creation. Sam said; "Apple rejected the app not because it was obscene or problematic, they didn't think that it appealed to a broad range of iPhone or iPod touch users." Come on people, have you seen the gathering of Neanderthals lined up for iPhone 3G across the country? It was not exactly a group of etiquette school graduates. I was there amongst the hoards counting dozens of unibrows on those shaved apes. They will love this app.
People vote with their credit cards, it's as simple as that. If an app is not selling or if it receives poor early adopter reviews, it's as good as dead anyhow. Apple should develop a pre-sale iTunes app page for up and coming apps and see what happens. I think Pull My Finger is brilliant and far more profound of an artistic statement than the "I Am Rich" app ever was. The 'Retro Woman' squeaker is pure genius. Apple ought to let the cult of iPhone faithful decide for themselves what apps appeal to a broad range of users.
It stinks that Apple has firmly wedged itself into the unfortunate role of app police, ultimately limiting iPhone's true potential in the lowest of places. 'Pull My Finger' appeals to our base human nature and relieves users from the pressure of having to yell, "Whoever smelt it, dealt it!" Rather than sitting at a bus stop passing gas while using the iPhone, Pull My Finger can help all of us use the iPhone itself to pass gas, drawing attention away form the obvious offender.
Senseless fart jokes are vital to our YouTube crazed culture. I believe it won't be long before this incredibly useful app makes its way into the iTunes App Store supported by popular demand. It gets my vote!
"I’ve already heard from a top-tier developer this morning who, in response to this story, is dropping an idea for a very cool iPhone app out of fear that the work to create it would be for naught as Apple might reject it." writes Daring Fireball blogger
One thing is certain, developers currently working on the "Oops I Sharted" app are going to be really disappointed when they catch wind of this bad news.
you know i completely agree. many apps should be left up to the people. ifart took off. maybe i want an electronic pull my finger. when i was in 5th grade that would have been golden.
