If you judge the new Sonic Lighter app by Smule strictly from a surface view, it's easy to write it off as another super snorefest. That assumption would be way off the mark. After downloading Sonic Lighter I was expecting it to suck, until I started to blow.
The realistic flame reacts brilliantly to breath and wind input using the iPhone's microphone, allowing you to create movement or even to extinguish it completely if you're a blow hard like I am. Turn the flame sideways and your iPhone frame starts to sizzle with a simulated burn effect. You can also light another iPhone users flame with your device, though I have not had a chance to try that one yet.
I'm sure you've guessed by now that to light the flame you must manually use the strike, then when you give the flame two taps, up pops a global flame map that identifies your position via a flickering light while mapping where other Sonic Lighter users have created light around the globe. That's freakin cool! Pinch and stretch to zoom in on the map to view cult of iPhone faithful on fire. Sonic Lighter has already been embraced as a center of iPhone cult worship.
For $.99 cents I will use this amazing app to deliberately blow people's minds while blowing on my iPhone. I could be like David Blaine doing iPhone street magic, no wait... that's too creepy. At a minimum you can hold up your realistic Sonic Lighter at the next concert to command an encore while it also serves as an early warning doofus detector for others around you. Toss a buck at this little gem broseph, you will not be disappointed. Spread the light.
It seems like they come out with cooler apps everyday. This app is truly magical. What a way to impress the friends with your cool new app.
