Two major retailers in Europe have confirmed that Apple's Mac Mini has been placed on their endangered species list. Apple told retailers to expect no more Mac Mini shipments, according to a detailed report by Gizmodo. Out with the old and in with the new... maybe?
The Mac Mini is currently available for ordering at the Apple store but that too may soon become a thing of the past. Is the Mac Mini really dead? Are hopes of a faster, more muscular Mac Mini refresh turning into seasonal depression?
"Hopefully, this may mean that a new update is in the works or that it will get replaced by something else." writes Jesus Diaz for Gizmodo.
The Mac Mini is certainly the last remnant of what was called "the most affordable Mac ever" by Steve Jobs when it was introduced at the Macworld Conference in January 2005. Does anyone remember BYODKM? It means "Bring Your Own Display, Keyboard and Mouse". I'm still feeling the love.
After watching the Mac Mini introduction video (below) from Macworld 2005, it's hard for me to build a bridge and get over it. Like Diaz, I'm fanning the flames of hope, believing that Jobs may still have bigger plans for "The Little Miss Sunshine" of Apple computing. Who's with me?

It's too difficult for many analysts to wrap their brain around the idea that the mac mini can be both the slowest selling Mac AND a profitable, well-selling product.
It'll get a very modest bump in CPU/HD/RAM and geta newer non-3D video chipset (which the geek will decry) and a mini DisplayPort port (which the tech press will B&M over), or it will be replaced my a Mac nano with no optical drive (which the tech press will crucify).
