It was bound to happen. Someone had to take a hard look back at the history of ridiculous iPhone predictions and properly pull the down the underpants of those ego maniacal shaved apes who were keenly bent on forecasting the demise of Apple's iPhone long before it launched.
MacDailyNews accomplished the above mentioned "pantsing" with stealthy, Ninja-like skill. So much so, that it caught the attention of Philip Elmer-DeWitt who writes for Fortune under the Apple 2.0 banner. DeWitt's post is appropriately titled; "Dumb iPhone predictions: A look back".
Here's one of my favorite failed predictions from the (22) naysayers in the buffoon parade: "I'm more convinced than ever that, after an initial frenzy of publicity and sales to early adopters, iPhone sales will be unspectacular... iPhone may well become Apple's next Newton." - David Haskin, Computerworld, February 26, 2007
It appears David Haskin may himself become the next Newton. Now that iPhone is flying at such great heights with over 10 million sold since June 29, 2007 and profits for Apple soaring 26% in Q4, it's a fine time to gloat. An ideal time for the cult of iPhone faithful to look back with disdain upon the obnoxious stable of ass hats who thought they knew better.
“Apple is slated to come out with a new phone… And it will largely fail.” - Michael Kanellos, CNET, December 07, 2006
The epic collection of failed iPhone predictions serves as confirmation that someday MacDailyNews will rule the world. Not the world of those shaved apes wearing their asses like hats, but a perfectly Mac-tastic world of Apple followers exchanging Jobsian currency and speaking fluent Mac. A world where "One iPhone for every child" will finally be a reality.
Bravo, MacDailyNews team! Turnabout is fair play.

Why can't they invent a new sandwich called the "foot sandwich" so those genius prognosticators could at least enjoy the taste of having their own stinky foot in their mouths. Did they think that the price of the iPhone was etched in stone and could never be reduced? Or that it would never be updated? My goodness. It's not like it's a vintage Ferrari Superfast or something. The unlocked Nokia N95 cost a lot and I didn't hear them saying the Nokia N95 would be a complete failure. The CEO of Palm pretty much said the iPhone would never exceed Palm sales because developing handsets are far too complicated for rank amateurs.
I think anyone who makes brazen, absolute predictions that are nearly 100% wrong should be forced to join the "Flat Earth" club of the world's smartest dummies/idiots/fools/retards/MStards.

You're comparing apples and oranges. Those predictions were based on the original iPhone at the original price. Since then, Apple has lowered the price significantly, updated the OS, sells the iPhone nearly world-wide, and opened it up for third party software. Kinda like the original iPod; which didn't really take off until they lowered the price and opened it up to Windows users.
Luckily for iPhone fans and Apple stock holders, Apple has moved on and updated the iPhone quickly.
Here's hoping the trend continues!

Remember that, for many of those people, these were "wish lists" not predictions. If enough people wished the same thing it might somehow happen...
The last laugh goes to.....
