Speak of the devil! Steven Smith, aka the infamous "Zune Tattoo Guy", has remained true to his one-man assault on Microsoft by covering over his beloved Zune tattoo with a parody of "hellboy" Dick Cheney as the devil. Smith forewarned us back in July that he planned to blot out the memory of his Zune logo tattoo by poking fun at the Bush administration with something even more ridiculous.
In time for Halloween, Smith's new Cheney tattoo comes complete with cloven hooves, man boobs and little devilish horns, making ol' wrinkled Dick look like a twisted Zune Satanist with the original tattoo still lingering underneath. The new tat will soon be filled in with red ink according to Smith.
"True to my word, it's Dick Cheney as the devil. So far only the outline and shadowing are done so the logo is still visible, but in two weeks the red will be added and it will finally be covered." Smith said during our covert encounter.
At one time Steven Smith (mszunefan), was embraced as a Microsoft darling, sporting his Zune tattoo as the unofficial, fanatical leader of an anemic Zune fanboy army. Smith later voiced his frustration over Microsoft's lack of progress in the Zune product line. In July of 2008 we reported the shocking news that Smith willfully abandoned his Zune fascination for an iPod Touch. That news set off a flurry of media attention as Smith crossed over the great divide from his splintered Zune scene onto the Apple Mothership. Smith appears to have no regrets with his decision.
The conversion is nearing completion now as Zune Tattoo Guy buries the markings of his former Zune love forever. It appears that his was only a superficial love. Like many Microsoft enthusiasts the Zune honeymoon eventually ends badly in the stark light of dawn, after waking up to the coyote ugly of iPod clones. In this case, Steven Smith chose a clever alternative to chewing off his own arm in order to make a narrow escape from the scene. Hell hath no fury like a newly converted Apple fanboi.
You're welcome to him.
