The excitement for Thinnovation has quickly turned into frustration for some buyers of the entry-level MacBook Air since Apple announced in an email apology that new MBA notebooks will not be shipping until November 24th. The delay is reported to only be affecting the entry-level MacBook Air 1.6GHz model with a 120GB SATA hard drive listed at $1,799.00. The anticipated delivery date is 11/29/08 after Thanksgiving.
"A quick investigation into the matter reveals the hold-up is a direct result of either component or supply chain issues surrounding the 1.6GHz model's standard 120GB SATA hard drive." according to a report by AppleInsider.
Included with Apple's apology was confirmation that customers could choose to cancel their order anytime before it is shipped. Which translated means; "If you don't like the news then don't buy it!" The shipping date for the new MacBook Air is not the only thing that's been put off. Seattle barista Robin Whey, was extremely disappointed claiming that his Thanksgiving plans have been totally shipwrecked by the tragic news.
"I'm not trying be some kind of whiner boy, but I expected to impress my family with my new Air on Thanksgiving Day," said Whey, holding back real tears, "I'm a friggin Barista man! Really, how cool is that? I dropped $2,000 to buy a Mac that would finally make me cooler than my cousins. Now I'm just the same doofus, ass hat they visited last year. It sucks! I might just buy a Macbook Pro now and an iPhone to save face."
It's true that a new MacBook cannot do miracles, but studies have cofirmed the individual cool factor for first time buyers went up an impressive 57-percent when compared to other notebooks in the same category. While the Macbook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air do not come with an expressed guarantee from Apple of boosting personal coolness, it certainly can't hurt. Especially for those that are already percieved to be at a negative rating.
