A new report confirms that Wal-Mart will be launching iPhone 3G at the end of December as earlier rumors from The Boy Genius Report predicted. Wal-Mart will be featuring the 8GB iPhone for the ultimate roll-back pricing of $197 which is easily two dollars cheaper than the Apple store. The specific launch date is December 28th starting at 9 A.M.
We asked Heath Writs what he thought of Wal-Mart's roll-back price on the iPhone. Heath Writs is the first cult of iPhone line sitter currently camped out in the parking lot of a Louisiana Wal-Mart waiting for history to be made.
"I'll tell you what, two bucks ain't nothin' to trample anyone over, but it's still a damn good deal. I'm glad to be in line already." Writs said, "When you add up the savings on two or three phones it's almost six bucks US. That's a feast at Subway man!"
A report also reveals that the idea of a $99 4GB iPhone 3G making an appearance at Wal-Mart is simply inaccurate according to claims made recently by the MacBlogz team who beat the wild Boy Genius rumor-fest with a large shovel. As a result, the big brains at MacBlogz are being heralded by the entire Mac news community as the newest source of credible Apple rumor control, especially since the bigger brains at AppleInsider also weighed in on the subject with their own confirmation.
The fledgling MacBlogz website has been nominated for a "Rookie of The Year" award which is one of the highest honors in the blogosphere for a start-up site. The idea of a Mac bloggers trading card series is also being tossed around for 2009. Discussions with Topps are rumored to be currently under way. If launched, a MacBlogz 'Rookie card' could skyrocket in value as the site gains popularity. Those guys have my vote for sure. Though a first edition MacRumors card would also command a hefty price.
December 28th still remains the expected date for Wal-Mart to debut iPhone 3G.
