The wildly popular cult of iPhone wannabe Mat Brady, is back at the design table. This time he's added a third party clamshell keyboard to his original iPhone Pro concept. In his latest fantastical rendition Brady focuses on the importance of iPhone girth. Apparently girth ads worth. Imagine an awkward swing-out qwerty keyboard attached to your iPhone like an iStrap-on tool.
Brady's latest franken-phone revision is in response to several thousand rabid fanboys responding to his last iPhone concept which caused massive hysteria. It might be time for supporters to wear an "iStrap-on" t-shirt at Macworld to capture the attention of Steve Jobs in case he decides to make a surprise cameo appearance.
I can't imagine adding girth to my iPhone 3G with a physical keyboard of any kind, be it slide-out, clamshell or a third-party strap-on. If you're all about the 'iPhone bulge' in your front pocket, this little chubby could finally be the proper crotch sock alternative.
I'm convinced that the original iPhone touch keyboard design Apple delivered to planet earth is epic genius. A few upgrades in the future will suffice. Anything more would be adding fugly fatness to iPhone's sexy contoured profile. Leave that chubby look to Palm and Blackberry. It's a much better fit on those ancient relics.
Next generation for the iphone should be a hologram QWERTY. touch a QWERTY Button on the screen & a hologram opens up. the Keys should be sensor active so when your finger touches the hologram key it types the text.

Obnoxious looking design. This concept probably doesn't even exist in Apple's Rejected Designs Bin.

I'd think everyone would see a clamshell iPhone as a no-no. But a clamshell iPod Touch, especially if it had 2 screens and a hinge system that allowed the screens to be almost seamless. This would be my idea of a 'netbook' with camera and microphone.

If there is one think that everyone KNOWS about Apple by now, it is that Apple does NOT GO BACKWARDS!
The idea that Apple would move the world forward with Multi-Touch only to then reintroduce yesterdays technology with a physical keyboard are losing their marbles.
The future is glass and software. Not itty bitty keys and foldouts.
