Apple slipped in a stealthy release of iPhone firmware update 2.2.1 today without any advance warning. The vibrant Apple rumor mill was even deafeningly silent on the subject which is a shocker. Most likely it's because this update contains no new features to speak of and a few bug fixes.
Here's what we know so far, this 245.7 MB update contains improved general stability of Safari and addresses the barely noticeable issue where some images that are saved from Mail do not display correctly in iPhone's Camera Roll. Big whoop! To update, connect your iPhone or iPhone 3G to your computer and “check for updates” via iTunes.
On the other hand, if you're currently enjoying a jailbroken or unlocked device, DO NOT update your firmware via iTunes to the latest iPhone update 2.2.1. The Dev Team Pineapple gang are warning that this latest update will indeed break yellowsn0w, converting your unlocked iPhone into a useless paperweight.
