Apple has released their first iPhone ad for 2009 which focuses on reading. The new spot features three apps requiring e-reading including Yelp (free), OsiriX ($19.99) and Classics ($4.99). In fact there's an app for just about anything only on the iPhone.
Those Kindle zombies who insist on lugging around their overpriced book reader will be frozen in front of their TV sets wondering why they ever fell for Amazon's colorless paper weight when they could have bought an iPhone instead.
How do you spell obsolete? You don't need an iPhone to read between the lines on this one.
Let me first state that I am an Apple Advocate and fanboy... I have pretty much owned every type of Apple product and besides from having a MacBook Pro, 23-inch display, iPhone 3G (which replaced my relatively new original model), AppleTV, Apple Networking equipment, iPod Nano, and several older iPod models rolling around in drawers... I also own a Kindle.
The Kindle is great... I have tried to read on the iPhone and it is great for quick bits, but for a full novel it doesn't only tire the eyes it also tires the iPhone's batteries and these batteries' main job is to keep me communicated. I have read entire novels on the Kindle without needing a recharge (turning off wireless) and have gotten instant gratification when my plane was delayed with the delivery of a brand new book in seconds. Obsolete not.
