Mullah Zaeef, a former Taliban official was recently outed as a committed iPhone geek by Al Jazeera correspondent Hamish McDonald during his visit to Kabul. This confirms my long held belief that some cult of iPhone news is stranger than any fiction I could possibly burp up.
"I asked Zaeef about his gadget. His response was pretty much the same as everyone who owns an iPhone." McDonald wrote about Zaeef on his One Month In Kabul post. "I'm addicted," he said, "the internet is great on this, very fast."
"He proceeded to show myself and our film crew his favourite websites. I half expected him to log on and show us 'Taliban Twitter'."
Who knew that the speed of iPhone would receive its greatest endorsement from the friggin Taliban. Apple needs to grab this rare iTaliban, iSheik marketing opportunity now that they're finally selling iPhone 3G in the Middle East. Somebody needs to Photoshop a slick poster featuring geek Zaif.
I recently called iPhone, "The must-have accessory for every Sheik geek" in a post I wrote back on February 5th. Now I'm wondering if I may have underestimated the epic demand for iPhone in the Middle East. Yeah, maybe I did.
This is very funny

Afghanis may be human beings, but the Taliban are a fascist regime. If they had their way, women would not be allowed to use the iPhone, and non-Islamic websites would be banned.
Funny how Zaif enjoys US-designed technology, even as his Taliban brethren spout anti-western rhetoric.

What do you think Afghanis are not human-beings? You think they don't like the same things you and I do?
You have been paying too much attention to the brainwashing of your government and their media stooges. The demonization of the Taliban is just a propaganda ploy to justify the war....
