It was bound to happen! The paid version of Google's Android Marketplace finally launched last Friday. One of the first apps lying in wait for unsuspecting buyers was the $200 "I Am Richer" app, a dubious re-imagined version of the notorious $1,000 iPhone app, "I Am Rich". The current incarnation has changed from red to a less expensive shade of blue. "I Am Richer" still performs exactly like the original version, it's a stationary gem referred to by the designer as digital art. It actually does nothing.
Google has put a $200 cap on Android applications, so of course the "I Am Richer" developer went for the maximum sale price. Until recently, only free applications were allowed to populate the Android Marketplace.
Hopefully planet Earth has learned a painful lesson from the first round of stupidity when eight people actually purchased the $1,000 iPhone app that did nothing. If you missed the entire shiteree, simply click here to read about the most hysterical iPhone farce of 2008.
Say hello to "dumb" and "dumber".
