The big brains over at The Boy Genius Report allege that AT&T might be launching a "Handset Trade-In" offer starting sometime in June. By August AT&T stores will be like a used mobile phone lot full of cheesy sales people hawking "a real beauty" on special for $99 dollars.
While the report is being called a rumor, it could be that AT&T is planning ahead for thousands of mobile phone owners wanting to ditch their paper weights for the next-generation iPhone. "AT&T is hoping to quell complaints from subscribers who did something stupid like buy a Curve 31 days before the Bold launched." BGR wrote in their post.
Apparently there are several caveats accompanying this rumored offer.
- The trade-in phone can’t be more than two years old and must be in fair condition.
- Whatever dollar amount your trade-in brings will offset the price of your new unsubsidized phone.
- Trade-ins will be valued from $50 to $200 depending on condition.
I just love highly detailed rumors. Are you planning on trading-up for the next-generation iPhone?
