Rory Reid from CNET UK decided to pit the iPhone against an
Asus Eee PC in a test of extreme texting while strapped into
the passenger seat of a moving European rallycross car.
It's truly amazing how much Rory's test so closely mirrors my
own commute to work each morning attempting to perform
a savage text and drive session. Always bet on iPhone!
there are (belated) laws in the USA against driving while talking on a cell, much less while typing into a laptop. :-)
but I've seen laptop users on transit. seemed to have no trouble doing whatever despite wiggling of the vehicle.

On the other hand, if you're typing on a desk while going zero mph, then I'm sure the netbook wins handily. Both devices are useful for typing under various conditions. I routinely see people typing on netbooks on the subway and they don't seem to have much trouble since the train isn't bouncing and their legs provide a fairly steady surface. So even on a subway train, people standing would do better typing with an iPhone, but people sitting would do better typing with a netbook.
Almost nobody would have the need to be typing in a rally car race, so throw that test out. It was a lot of fun, though.
