With the new Star Trek film set to make its epic debut, I figured this would be a good time to revisit the fantastical "Obama Spock" action figure that surfaced during last year's "Art + Action = Obama 08" auction hosted by Jailbreak Toys. Out of the entire display of custom painted Obama action figures designed by some 80 artists, Mr. Spock was my ultimate favorite. The artist cleverly chose to feature Obama wearing a classic Star Trek uniform and then flashing the mandatory "live long and prosper sign" in order to make hardcore Trekkie loyalists drool. The entire lot of specially designed Obama figures were auctioned off on Ebay directly after the art opening ended.
I'm expecting the retooled Star Trek to spark dozens of epic theater bromances while creating a new wave of Trekker man-love from certified geeks everywhere. Highly illogical, but truly fascinating.

I can see Obama as Sybok, but Spock, NO!
Actually a friend of mine made a better comparison
Obama as a tribble, not the tribbles from the original series,
but the ones from the animated series, the ones that eat
and grow larger and larger (ie like the Federal Government)
Just my $0.02

"Spade"? "Spook"? Rich E. Rich, for someone who purports to be a Star Trek fan, you obviously didn't pay much attention to the key underlying premise of the show. Here's a hint: it wasn't exactly Manifest Destiny. By the way, Spock's biracial too. Use any slurs for Vulcans recently?

Me wants Obama Spock. Really, really bad! He's just so cute!

Wow!! Will "Action Figure" creators stop at nothing to shamelessly exploit anyone or anything. My favorite character on "The Trek" was always Mr Spock. His dry wit and intelligence made him stand out. Though I always felt that he could of secretly been a malcontent or grumbler.
I mean let's just call a "spade" a spade. Talking under his breath and taking snipes and making trite comments at Kirk and the crew. Watch the old episodes and you"ll see what I mean! How can you link Obama and Mr Spook together is beyond me. But I think they seem to have nailed it with the MrSpook action figure.
