iPhone overheating has not been a problem I've experienced while living in Seattle, even on the warmest days with my phone lodged deep inside the pocket of my cutoff jeans. One cult of iPhone fanatic was not so lucky when his device sent him a tragic fail message that instantly shut down his iPhone bromance while he was working out his tanorexia issues. A temperature warning screen appeared with the message "iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it".
The Apple website confirms his discovery with their own warning, "Operate iPhone 3G in a place where the temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F)" Apple also warns that listening to music for long periods of time with your device in direct sunlight can also cause overheating along with leaving your iPhone in the car on a hot day next to your panting Schnauzer.
"Don’t sit next to a pool in Scottsdale, Arizona when it’s 104 degrees or your iPhone will melt away! So how to fix it fast? I put the iPhone between 2 cold beers and it worked!" one iPhone abuser told The iPhone Blog.
Apparently exposing the beloved iPhone to extreme weather conditions is not an issue for some that don't consider their device to be another member of the family like I do. I obsessively baby my iPhone, stopping just short of buying designer clothing and a custom bed for the thing.
Knowing that 95 degrees is the iPhone's threshold for heat, it's easy to assume if you take good care of it then it will take good care of you. But should your iPhone randomly burst into flames because of your own retarded neglect don't panic, just try and capture it on video for YouTube. Trust me... you'll be an overnight sensation with that footage.
Once your iPhone returns to a safe temperature the home screen will reappear as normal. If all else fails, simply wedge it between two ice cold beers.
My 3gs will tile and crash pretty quickly when used directly in the Florida Sun, keeping it tucked away under a towel when gettin me tan on solves the problem. Buty I look a little odd with a toel over my head when surfing the net or checking my email
