Apple has jumped on releasing iPhone firmware 3.0.1 in direct response to a dangerous security exploit that made headlines earlier this week. The iPhone security flaw allows any device to be hijacked through SMS access. The 300 MB Firmware 3.0.1 update is now available for the iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS through iTunes.
While the update was specifically released to fix the SMS exploit, several users with Jailbroken iPhones are reporting that the update disables their devices. As is true with any official Apple iPhone update, jailbreakers should know by now to wait on the sidelines for the Dev Team to release an official updated version of their wildly popular yellowsn0w, redns0w and pwnagetool software.
The iPhone Dev Team has already posted instructions on how you can re-use redsn0w v0.8 released a few weeks ago to jailbreak iPhone 3.0.1 update.
