A fresh idea from the creators of Mulletizer has entered the App Store. I discovered this spiteful little gem buried under a pile of new Photography apps. Demoralizer reminds us all that motivational posters are totally overrated and painfully out of style. Why be all sweet and uplifting when you can rip your friends a new one, frame it, then post it directly to Facebook and Twitter?
Demoralizer ($.99) allows users to make the art of public humiliation fast and simple. Pull photos from your camera roll or snap a fresh one. Then select from a list of canned captions, or just create your own. Toss on a custom snarky comment and blammo! Awkward photos from you're Friday night brodown instantly becomes comic relief for the entire planet to enjoy. The ability to post your masterpiece to Facebook and Twitter is a must-have feature worth the price of admission.
It appears that the folks behind Demoralizer are still trying to populate their public gallery, making that one feature on this app useless at present. I would also suggest that developers add a landscape option with the next update. Those drawbacks still didn't prevent us from whipping up a half-dozen zingers of our own, properly including the "Zune Tattoo Guy" as the first inductee into our demoralizing hall of shame.
Demoralizer is a clever spoof app that turns public humiliation into a spectator sport for anyone who loves being "Debbie Downer" all night long. Of course you can always use this app in reverse to send fluffy messages of encouragement to every friend in your contact list. I'm not sure why you'd want to, because demotivation is the new motivator. Tweet that!
