Here's a slick little app that let's you share your iPhone or iPod Touch music instantly on Twitter or even via email. Serenade (free) requires that you sign in with your Twitter account in Settings, then select the format that you want to share your music, providing seamless integration with your iPod application. I suggest using (Title, Artist Link) which lets you share more than just a link.
When you launch Serenade you'll notice that the app loads the last song you were listening to, use the forward and reverse button to select a different song from your iPod list. Then simply tap the send icon (on left) and Serenade will present three sharing options, Share on Twitter, Share by Email or Copy to Pasteboard. The Pasteborad option copies the song's data and link so you can paste it on a Facebook status update, for example. When sharing your music via email the album cover art is also included which I found to be a nice feature.
I would like to see future Serenade updates include the ability to search your iPod library from inside the app rather than being limited to clicking song by song. A direct Facebook sharing option and easily accessing multiple Twitter accounts are also must-have additions. The developers note in Settings that they had to delete Amazon as a music service choice just prior to launch due to license restrictions. Let's call that fantasy dead for now.
Serenade is one app that's totally worth a proper test drive. It's a well thought out iPhone addition that makes sharing music fun again through those wildly popular social networks. I call this one a brilliant start of what could unleash a new genre of useful iPhone utilities for the modern mobile socialite.
The best part is that it's free. At least for now.
