Creator, Dieter Erik von Schramm, had no idea what he was going to make as he wandered the isles of a Lowes Hardware Store, eventually landing in the pipe section to design this post-apocalyptic iPod stand. When in doubt... lay pipe!
"Inspired by blackout artist, Austin Kleon, I created this stand for my iPod Touch. It’s got a steampunk style to it, but it was really influenced by the technology in Dune, Blade Runner, and Brazil." - Dieter Erik von Schramm wrote
The faux finish was created using Valspar paints to make the stand look like weathered copper pipe. The result of this do-it-yourself odyssey is totally bad-ass! Delivering a uniquely rugged Sci-Fi design that's certain to inspire others onto greatness.
While von Schramm admits it's not possible to charge his device while cradled in the stand, he did tool a headphone jack on the left hand side for ease of use. The added detail of seeing a scene from Dune on the screen for the photo capture makes this one an instant classic. Now I want one for my iPhone. Well done Sir!
