The highly-anticipated update of Facebook for iPhone 3.0 is now imminent according to developer Joe Hewitt who has already submitted the revised version to Apple for approval. The feature set has been posted and it's impressive! The option to upload video in 3.0 directly to Facebook from my iPhone 3GS, definitely gets me all tingly in my geeky parts and may prove to be a huge selling point for 3G users to upgrade after the new version launches. Although Facebook videos can't be played back yet from inside the app due to format incompatibility with iPhones.
The new Crackberry-like navigation page is already getting rave reviews from many Facebookers eager to get their hairy man hands all over 3.0, along with the ability to have complete photo management via iPhone. Creating albums, deleting albums, deleting photos and deleting photo tags becomes a simple task in this version. The ability to change your profile photo or quickly call and text friends directly from your friends list is a drool worthy addition. (see features and screenshots below)

While there is clearly an amazing list of new functionality in 3.0, those Facebook fanatics salivating for iPhone push notifications will have to wait until the release of version 3.1, which Hewitt has already begun developing. Landscape mode is also part of that update. Even though there's no Facebook 3.1 release date set, the good news is that Hewitt has confirmed it's in the pipeline. We'll all have to play hurry up and wait for that one!
