Here's a simple twist on the do-it-yourself iPhone stand concept
using a Mini DV tape case. Rather than using his case in the raw,
creator Elam Nikserof re-imagined a fantastical vision of coordinating
his white iPhone using a few coats of satin enamel paint and then
carving out a place where he could freely finger his home button at
will.
"I wanted instant access to my home button so I hacked out a hole using a hot blade," Nikserof said via email, "I spent way too much time sanding this thing, but the finish was worth the effort. The stand works best if you use your iPhone bareback style, it's way too narrow to fit with most cases."
The result is a perfect little iPhone road stand that's certain to make any Final Cut editor drool at first glance. If you don't care about home button access, it's game on with just one flip and no editing required.
I love Elam's idea of using the Anime Clock app to showcase his creation in the snap shots. It's one app that still remains a major favorite of mine. Well done sir!
I just have bought DIY DV Tape iPhone Stand as a simple yet awesome stand for my iPhone. I get unlimited capacity just by popping in a new tape, you have an original-quality backup/source, and you can do the transfer to your PC whenever you want to, not when the camera is "full." I am increasingly concerned that these cameras are fading from the market in favor of DVD or hard drive.

My favorite iPhone holder is a product called the Comfort Base from www.newpcgadgets.com. I like the acrylic design and I can store my excess cables in the back.
