With over two billion apps being served to iPhone and iPod touch users on planet Earth, it's no surprise that New York's local ABC 7 News launched an in-depth analysis into the horror of iPhone app addiction. Even though there's no confirmation that such an addiction truly exists, ABC became the self-appointed band leader of the doofus parade, coining the term "apping" in order to add credibility to their fantastical tale of imaginary app addiction. Which is about as real as claiming that smoking cigarettes makes you gay.
"On any given corner their there, iPhone junkies, starring at their phones and apping. That's right, it's called apping. Downloading the latest applications and for some it's addictive."- Source: ABC 7
The two minute video report (below) barfed up onto unsuspecting New Yorkers by reporter Heidi Jones, shamelessly refers to iPhone users as "junkies", featuring a random cameo by a street crawling iPhone addict named Philip Guest. Mister Guest is amazed at how quickly the iPhone eats up his time, as if the device is controlling his tiny pea sized brain against his will.
This wildly humorous fairytale should serve as a proper warning to journalism students everywhere. See this retarded news story kids? Do the opposite! While claims of internet addiction are becoming all the rage for unemployed psychologists looking to reinvent themselves, I'm convinced that iPhones offer equal opportunity for fleecing gullible geeks like Phil Guest. It's proof that everyone is looking to grab a little piece of Apple's iPhone gold rush.
I believe avoiding sensationalism in mainstream media is the best anti drug. That kind of addiction to brain pollution is called "crapping". Just Say No to ABC news.
If you're not apping... you're not living!

Local news is all about sensationalizing the small things. I could go on the street, find three people who have bitten another person at one time or another and claim that cannibalism is a 'growing concern.'
Yawn.
