Steven Smith, aka the "Zune Tattoo Guy", who rocketed to internet micro-celebrity when he obsessively tattooed Microsoft’s music player logo onto his shoulder, has ditched his iPod touch for a brand new Zune. America's number one Zune zombie is back!
Smith recently purchased himself a new Zune HD device and he could not be happier about his assimilation by the Borg back into the Microsoft collective. It appears that his wild eyed lust for Apple's iconic iPod has come to a tragic end.Convinced that Zune was "the bastard child in Microsoft's product line", Smith abruptly ended his long man-love obsession with the device around July of 2008, gushing with tender affection for the iPod Touch. At that time, Smith expressed great disdain for Microsoft's lack of progress in the Zune product line. But that was so last year!
Sounding much like a sentimental ex-boyfriend, Steven Smith expressed regret over abandoning Zune, trying to recall what possessed him to leave his one true love in the first place.
"I am not sure why I ever left the Zune camp," Smith told the iPhone Savior in a brief conversation, "I lost hope in Microsoft, but I shouldn't have. They have some of the greatest minds on the planet working on the Zune project and they will not go down without a fight."
Although Smith is content professing renewed passion for the Microsoftie's HD music player, in October of last year he covered over his original Zune tattoo with an obnoxiously over-sized caricature of former Vice President, Dick Cheney as the devil. An idea that ought to carry even more regret for Smith after rekindling his Zune fanboy love affair.
In order to make his Microsoft assimilation complete, "Emperor Zune" will be hosting a Windows 7 Launch Party in Sioux City, Iowa on October 22nd at the local movie theater. Though Smith looks nothing like those hack Micro-zombies in the Windows 7 launch videos, he's thrilled to be the face of change that Iowa computer geeks can believe in.
"I was one of the lucky chosen ones to be able to do it," Smith gushed about his launch party, "I will have two Xbox 360's going on the big screen and even have Best Buy on site to sell copies of Windows 7 and the Zune HD."It appears the flip flopping poster child of a failed Zune revolution has returned with a vengeance. Welcome back to the social disorder.
This article makes me smile. Anyone who buys a ZuneHD over an iPod Touch is a hero in my book. This guy is truly a hero among men.

The Zune HD delivers one of the best portable music and video experiences money can buy. At a time when many people have shifted their focus to games and applications, providing a killer media experience may not be enough for potential Zune buyers.

If you ask me, this guy is a little "Zunnie" to begin with. He's had his 15 minutes of internet fame, no need to try and extend it.

I have to say the newly designed Zune HD is a serious visual upgrade to the original, which seemed like a bad joke. With Apple holding 76% market share to Microsoft's 1.1%, they're as likely to turn the tables on Apple, as Apple is to turn the tables on computers – though, with the astonishing rate that their market share has grown over the past 3 years, I guess anything is possible.
Good luck to both of them, and let them fight the good fight!

Somebody probably paid him off to switch. Nothing wrong with that. What he likes, is his choice alone. The Zune HD seems to be a very capable media player. It's plain to see that Zune Guy is totally smitten over the hardware. I just wouldn't want to give up the iPhone/Touch ecosystem. Zune Guy says Zune Pass is so good. I'll take iTunes and App Store and wouldn't consider giving them up. I'm more concerned about getting good content than I am over marginally superior hardware. Good luck, Zune Guy. I hope Microsoft keeps you happy this time around.
