Reports are confirming that Apple will be holding their epic media event on Wednesday, January 27th at the Yerba Buena Center, contrary to the previous date of Tuesday, January 26th that we reported last week. This news comes from Digital Daily.
"Sources in a position to know tell me Apple (AAPL) is indeed planning a media event later this month at which the company will announce a major new product." John Paczkowski wrote.
The unveiling of Apple's iSlate tablet appears to be imminent since several new reports are aligning with news that certain developers may have been hand-picked by Apple to work with a new iPhone 4.0 beta SDK which makes it easy for devs to scale applications in order to adapt to different screen resolutions. Tablet-sized screen resolutions to be exact.
Engadget is also confirming the revised tablet launch date to be accurate.
"Sources very familiar with the situation over in Cupertino have been given info about a tablet heading for launch at the end of January, which will -- in fact -- require reformatting and resizing for its new screen size and resolution." Source: Engadget
It's widely believed that Apple will start shipping a tablet device by the end of March even though the company has yet to confirm it's existence at all. If you remember, we reported that Apple took over Jax Diner just outside of Lake Tahoe back in August to film a super-secret TV commercial for a "mystery product" according to the diner's owner.
Which means that if Apple does announce the iSlate tablet, we'll finally get to see the rumored ad showcased at the January 27th event. It's expected that Apple will send out official invitations to the media sooner than later now that the hype is building to a meaningful climax. While confirmation of the event does not guarantee a tablet unveiling, it does make me curious to find out what SDK 4.0 means for iPhone users in the way of updated functionality.
"The Wall Street Journal cites people “briefed by the company” who say Apple plans to ship the tablet in March, and that it will feature either a 10 or 11-inch touch screen. The paper also cites analysts who “currently believe” the machine will cost $1,000, which may include a Kindle-like built-in wireless plan." John Paczkowski wrote for Digital Daily.
The truth is out there. I want to believe.
UPDATED: iPhone 4.0 Report
Apple makes a great product, but until it begins to take notes from the jailbreak community, it will always be lacking. Unless 4.0 implements some of he jailbreak tools, I can’t see it being anything but lackluster. If it’s released soon, it’s going to take something big to update and lose my perfectly jailbroken iPhone. Heck, I didn’t upgrade to 3.1 until last night because of the minimal updates. MobileMe gallery pushed me over the edge. All in all, I can’t wait to see what Apple has in store.
