Hardcore Kevin Smith fanboys have been partying without sleep for days celebrating the release of the filmmaker's debut iPhone app that delivers users a nonstop, obsessive thrill ride into all things Kevin. It could actually be the greatest thing since Morris Day and The Time. Owee owee oh!
Kevin Smith ($.99) offers an all access pass to his Twitter stream, cheesy personal snapshots and the opportunity to pose with Silent Bob himself. Something that rabid Jay and Silent Bob fans have secretly lusted after for years now. Photos can be saved, emailed or sent directly to the fan gallery.
I found the ability to connect to News Askew web content to be most useful. You can find that feature buried inside the "More" tab which includes Smith's SModcasts, Podcasts and Fanimation videos. The fact that Kevin Smith is already resident in the App Stores list of
"What's Hot" should be a small clue that this iPhone nugget is well on its way to cult
superstardom.
One thing in need of a quick fix is the rant page which offers candid sound bites of Smith that are way too low to enjoy. I would also like the option to add a photo from my library next to Silent Bob, rather than being forced to always pinch off a fresh one on the fly.
While Smith does offer users the ability to purchase his films and soundtrack music from inside the app via iTunes, it's not a feature being blasted in your face. Committed followers should feel overwhelmed with tremendous man-love for this epic iPhone offering. It's a must-have dollar app well worth the price of admission.
I can sum up my feelings for Kevin Smith's app with four simple words, noish, noish, noish, noish.
Fixed it! Thanks Brian "Owee owee oh.
